Sharing the gems 💎... High-end Layaway

I know it has been a minute and I haven't reached out in a while, but I wanted to say hi. And, I wanted to checking in on you.

How have you been and what new art have you acquired?  Have you attended any art exhibitions that you thought were great?

For me, It has been an eventful and prosperous year. I curated, By the People, an arts and dialogue festival in Washington D.C. presented by Halcyon. Celebrated the 5th edition of Art on the Vine, one of the only art fairs focused on African American and African diasporic arts and placed numerous works in private collections. Oh, and did I mention that I had a personal visit from the Circle Members of Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. It has been exciting, and I have learned a lot.

I think back and realize that it was not that long ago that I purchased my first artwork, or first artist talk or first studio visit. I have made some tremendous strides since then, and as I reflect on how that was not long ago, I realize that I wish I knew then what I know now. So, I have made it one of my life’s missions to share the information that I have learned. Since we both have a love for art, I wanted you to be the first I share my lessons with now.

So… here goes lesson number 1.

That artwork that you love, but don’t think it will fit into your budget because you do not have the cash on hand to purchase it. Well. Guess what! You can pay for that work overtime. Yes, I said it. You can pay overtime for 0% interest. It is a layaway. Who knew? What I grew up thinking was a bad thing was a way that some of the wealthiest around us purchase…well, acquire their work. This one thing changes my access to artwork. I hope it does the same things for you.

Artfully,
